The Five Lakes Areas (Lake Kawaguchi)

The Five Lakes area is where you can get the most beautiful views of Mount Fuji. The iconic photos of the mountain are all taken from here.  Lake Kawaguchi and Lake Yamanaka are the two best places to visit for great photos. There are also many other attractions in this region which all offer views of Mt Fuji. Visit Oshino Hakkai, a village with eight crystal-clear ponds, or Akakurayama Sengen for iconic views of Mt. Fuji and the Red Pagoda. You can choose 2-3 attractions for a day trip from Tokyo.

Hakone

Lake Ash Cruise

Hakone has the most activities to do, although the chance to see Mount Fuji is less than in the Five Lake area. Hakone is famous for its natural hot springs and luxurious ryokans so it is also chosen as the most popular place to stay near Mount Fuji. In addition to relaxing in the hot springs, you could explore popular attractions, such as Lake Ashi, and Owakudani - an active volcano with sulfur fumes.
